| Job Summary: |
This position is responsible for performing entry level inspections and maintenance. This Includes continually collecting troubleshooting and analyzing telemetric polling ormanual data retrievals of data on a statewide highway network.
In addition conducting and performing short-term traffic counts and special counts on the public roadway system.
The requirements of this position include frequent overnight travel and working in various types of inclement weather and environmental factors.

| Job Duties: |
Performs a broad scope of entry level electrical electronic and mechanical duties related to the inspection installation maintenance and/or repair of traffic counting stations and weigh-in-motion (WIM) stations. Including programming traffic counting machines and placing tubes onto the roadway downloading data preparing reports.
Operates and/or receives training from team members to use powered and nonpowered equipment electronic devices tools and traffic count equipment to properly perform assigned work duties.
Develop technical knowledge for contract management quality assurance and record keeping of work inventory and project activities. Build skills in continuous communication and coordinating with team members contractors and internal/external stakeholders. Perform emergency repairs on permanent traffic counting stations and weigh in motion stations.

Knowledge of:
-Use care and maintenance of common and specialized tools equipment and materials related to the trade.
-Plans sketches/schematics of electrical electronic mechanical and utility systems.
-Methods/procedures for installing repairing diagnosing and inspecting traffic counting devices common safety practices.
-Electrical electronic mechanical and circuit theory.
Skill in:
-Applying/making interpretations of federal/state agency laws/rules regulations policies/procedures pertaining to work activities safe practices and public contact.
-Using proper materials tools vehicles & equipment to perform work activities within established work methods.
-Oral and written communication.
-Problem solving interpersonal relationships.
-Fundamental knowledge of interpreting blueprints sketches schematics of electrical and/or electronic components and/or circuits.
-Methods and procedures for installing repairing and diagnosing related equipment and appurtenances.
-Microsoft Office & Google workspace.
Ability to:
-Follow directions/work independently plan coordinate analyze and perform multiple tasks in stressful conditions.
-Troubleshoot diagnose and repair electrical components.
-Train and utilize advanced software systems such a ESRI GIS and Bently Microstation.
-Train and utilize computer systems traffic control methods practices procedures federal state agency laws rules regulations policies procedures pertaining to work activities.
-Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
-Apply and interpret procedures and practices established for the work section.

High school diploma/GED.
Entry level electrical/electronics background and troubleshooting.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
Valid Arizona Drivers license with acceptable 39 month MVR.
