The Role
Join our Melbourne newsroom as a Journalist Newsgathering Producer (Chief of Staff)and take the lead in shaping the stories that matter most to Victoria. Youll set the daily news agenda guide a dynamic team of reporters and drive the creation of distinctive high-impact content across all platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to combine sharp editorial judgment with strategic thinking to influence how our audience experiences the news every day.
The Job
- Lead daily news coverage by assigning reporters and crews across all platforms.
- Manage logistics and resources for breaking news.
- Drive multiplatform coverage for major stories.
- Collaborate with VIC regional and national teams on news planning.
- Commission diverse distinctive stories that reflect all Australians.
- Build connections with underrepresented communities.
- Guide and support editorial teams through story production.
- Ensure content meets ABC Editorial Policy and audience expectations.
About You
Youll have:
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Strong editorial judgment and news sense across all platforms.
- Skilled in digital mobile and broadcast news production.
- Solid understanding of ABC News goals and audiences.
- Strong knowledge of Victorias social political and cultural landscape with solid networks.
- Excellent teamwork communication and leadership working in fast-paced environments.
- Committed to diverse authentic storytelling that reflects all Australians.
