About the role
We are recruiting an Immunology Medical Advisor (IBD) to join our cross-functional Therapy Area this role you will help deliver value through high-quality medical input and leadership to strategy and activities ultimately benefiting patients Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and the NHS.
Youll be a key partner to the wider Therapy Area team (extended CVT) contributing medical insights scientific support and customer engagement to drive the medical plan and IBD priorities.
Role purpose
As a Medical Advisor (IBD) you will:
Optimise brand/therapy strategy through medical insight as a member of the extended cross-functional team and through delivery of agreed tactics.
Raise therapy area capability across customer-facing teams by sharing IBD and product knowledge internally.
Provide scientific support externally in response to clinical interest and strategic needs for the benefit of patients and the NHS.
What youll do
Therapy area knowledge & insight
Build and maintain up-to-date knowledge of scientific/clinical advances in IBD including the evolving evidence base and attendance at relevant meetings for insights.
Develop a strong understanding of NHS dynamics priorities and access factors that influence evidence-based IBD careturning this into actionable insights.
Contribute to evidence generation by identifying data gaps and proposing mechanisms to address them understanding how data sources fit the broader evidence plan.
Monitor competitor activity for strategic awareness and best practice including Code of Practice considerations.
Customer excellence (external engagement)
Engage with HCPs customers and researchers (as required) to:
Gather insights on the IBD landscape and customer medical/scientific needs
Exchange disease knowledge and understand emerging opinions
Support appropriate understanding of products and processes (e.g. clinical data trials compliance) based on customer needs
Seek advice that supports product development and evidence planning
Develop scientific and medical content for IBD advisory boards.
Support relevant patient advocacy groups and initiatives (where appropriate) including insight gathering and responding to clinical interest.
Internal collaboration & delivery
Support the Medical Lead and medical colleagues with projects aligned to the medical brand plan contributing to cross-functional team working as appropriate.
Co-create medical education projects with internal stakeholders and support MSLs with IBD educational presentations.
Provide office-based training and enable internal stakeholders to understand optimal and compliant use of products.
Contribute (as appropriate) to NICE/SMC submissions and broader medical governance processes
Strategy & compliance
Contribute to the development of Medical Affairs strategy for IBD by bringing evidence generation healthcare environment and customer insights.
Review materials and activities as a final signatory (or have the ability to become one) maintaining strong knowledge of UK-specific requirements (including ABPI Code implications).
Operate with strong compliance and inspection readiness including appropriate safety reporting (AE/PQC) and HCC/legal requirements when planning and executing projects.
Critical requirement (IBD role): Final Signatory
For the IBD Medical Advisor position you must either:
Already be a UK final signatory or
Be eligible and able to develop into a UK final signatory within 36 months.
This means the IBD role requires candidates who are UK-registered pharmacists or doctors (with appropriate registration to relevant official governing bodies).
What youll bring
Essential
Medical Doctor or Pharmacist qualification with eligibility to become (or already being) a UK final signatory.
Demonstrated ability to translate scientific data into clear high-quality medical insights and materials (e.g. advisory board content).
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with marketing sales market access and compliance partners.
Experience contributing to evidence generation medical education projects and/or HTA submissions (e.g. NICE/SMC).
