Clinical Assistant Professor Nurse Practitioner

The School of Nursing at Boise State University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position. This is a non-tenure-track clinical faculty role with a primary focus on teaching and clinical instruction.

Clinical faculty are responsible for teaching students in didactic laboratory/simulation and clinical settings supervising clinical experiences and engaging in professionally related service and community engagement that supports the mission of the School of Nursing. While clinical faculty may engage in research or scholarship research is not a required component of the regular workload for this position.

The successful candidate will hold national certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in nurse practitioner education and clinical practice. This role requires demonstrated technological competence and the ability to effectively deliver instruction using learning technologies in online and hybrid teaching environments.

This is an online hybrid position and may be performed remotely. However the selected candidate must be able to travel to the Boise State University campus periodically for in-person meetings orientations and required summer intensive sessions.

Clinical faculty typically teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours of didactic and clinical/lab/simulation coursework per semester representing approximately 80% of the assigned workload with the remaining effort dedicated to service activities such as program support student mentoring curriculum development and professional service. The ideal start date for this position is August 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

• National Certification (ANCC AANP AACN ACNP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner or an Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner

• Has an active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with the ability to obtain licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescribing privileges in Idaho by August 2026.

• Clinical experience as an APRN in a Family Nurse Practitioner or anAcute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

• Technologically competent; able to use technology to deliver effective education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner is preferred

• Doctoral degree or enrolled in a doctoral program.

• Online or hybrid teaching experience.

• Experience creating experiential learning activities.

• Graduate level teaching experience.

• Experience mentoring students through scholarly projects

• Experience providing care across the lifespan including patients with complex or multiple comorbidities.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly renewable contract unless noted that the position is temporary. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
