| Job Description: | The Department of Environmental and Global Health (EGH) at the University of Floridas College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) invites applications from qualified individuals to a tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level position where they will develop a collaborative and international research program on food safety epidemiology and risk assessment in global health settings. We are seeking candidates who conduct research and integrative studies on the impacts of improving the safety of nutrient-dense foods (animal-source foods in combination with fruits vegetables legumes nuts etc.) on human health. Successful candidates for this position will use systems thinking and approaches focus on population-level effects and combine data acquisition and modeling. The position will consist of research teaching and service. This position will seed a nexus in global food security between the Colleges of Public Health and Health Professions and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). Faculty will be expected to work closely with other faculty in the One Health Center of Excellence (OHCE) and the Global Food Systems Institute (GFSI) to complement the existing expertise in interdisciplinary research on global food security and nutrition across the lifespan at the University of Florida. The Department of Environmental and Global Health incorporates a dynamic faculty with expertise spanning environmental infectious diseases viral discovery toxicology and exposure science aquatic systems and coastal community health global health AI and GIS food and nutritional security and occupational health and safety. EGH programs offer a Master of Health Science and doctoral degrees in Environmental Health and One Health. The College is part of UFs Health Science Center that also includes the colleges of Medicine Pharmacy Nursing Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine. Department faculty also collaborate with the UF Emerging Pathogens Institute the Institute of Child Health Policy the UF Health Cancer Center the UF Genetics Institute the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets. The ideal candidate will have an academic background in epidemiology public health or related field and a research portfolio with evidence of extramural funding; teaching experience; and experience with research in Low- and Middle-Income Countries; designing and executing longitudinal studies and randomized controlled trials data science meta-analysis simulation and population-level modeling; demonstrated success securing grant funding for research and/or training. This is a 1.0 FTE 12-month position at the assistant associate or full level expected to start Spring of 2026. |
