Job Summary

Position Overview:

The CBH Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations ensuring accurate financial records and assisting with month-end quarter-end and year-end closing processes. This role works closely with the accounting and finance team to maintain compliance improve processes and provide reliable financial information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries accruals and adjustments
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank balance sheet and select income statement accounts)
  • Assist with month-end quarter-end and year-end close activities.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal use.
  • Monitor transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review invoices to determine appropriate and accurate general ledger (GL) coding.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial coding and compliance.
  • Prepare review and reconcile invoices related to quarterly billing grant billing and contract-based billing.
  • Perform billing and invoice reconciliations to ensure amounts billed aligned with expenditures contracts and grant agreements.
  • Support process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field
  • At least 1 year of accounting or related experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel (pivot tables VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g. Dynamic Great Plains 360 Business Central or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Philadelphia Residency Requirement:

  • The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.
