Requirements:
Associates degree or higher from a dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Associations Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
Active and unrestricted license to practice as a dental hygienist in the state of Vermont.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a full-time dental hygienist.
BLS/CPR (AHA)
Must possess a current unrestricted drivers license in the United States and ability to drive a mobile dental clinic (commercial drivers license not required)
Responsibilities:
Conduct dental cleanings including scaling and root planing and provide preventive treatments like fluoride applications.
Take and process dental x-rays ensuring images are of diagnostic quality.
Perform patient assessments including medical/dental history vital signs and periodontal evaluations.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and overall dental health.
Maintain infection control standards ensuring equipment sterilization and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures.
Record all patient care in the VAs electronic health record system.
Provide emergency dental care and manage urgent dental needs.
