Work Environment: Closed-door veterinary pharmacy no weekends

Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician III plays a critical role in supporting pharmacy operations within a closed-door veterinary pharmacy setting. This position is responsible for prescription processing inventory management order fulfillment workflow coordination and supporting pharmacists to ensure accuracy compliance and timely shipment of prescription orders. The role requires strong technical knowledge attention to detail and the ability to operate efficiently in a production-driven pharmacy and warehouse environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This role supports pharmacy operations by entering prescriptions into the dispensing system retrieving labeling staging and toting prescription drug products following pharmacist verification and preparing orders for shipment. The Pharmacy Technician III maintains pharmacy inventory by organizing and restocking medications and supplies ensures the work environment remains clean and compliant with pharmacy standards and maintains all required licensure in accordance with state and federal regulations. The position requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate stairs as part of daily order processing responsibilities.
The technician effectively communicates with customers veterinarians pharmacists and internal team members accesses and retrieves information from pharmacy computer systems assists pharmacists with information needed for patient consultations and appropriately refers medical inquiries to the pharmacist. Responsibilities also include demonstrating knowledge of pharmacy layout warehouse safety practices RF scanner usage bin location navigation mode of transportation identification correct staging and sorting of orders labeling techniques and verification processes.
The Pharmacy Technician III monitors workflow production demands and inventory levels to ensure timely fulfillment of orders prioritizes tasks to meet business needs collaborates with technicians pharmacists and inventory teams to resolve workflow issues and shortages and may guide or support other pharmacy technicians to optimize productivity. Additional responsibilities include processing new and refill orders interpreting prescriptions and standing orders printing and managing order waves verifying account and order information supporting training and onboarding of new technicians assisting with workflow process improvements maintaining prescription files in compliance with legal requirements obtaining forklift certification if required and performing other duties as assigned. Scheduling flexibility may be required including working beyond scheduled hours to ensure all daily orders are completed.
Experience and Education Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must hold an unrestricted and active Pharmacy Technician license or registration in the state of residence or be eligible to complete an approved employer training program within six months of hire if applicable. National Pharmacy Technician certification is required in states where mandated by the Board of Pharmacy and preferred where not mandated. One or more years of related pharmacy experience is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint is required.
Minimum Skills Knowledge and Abilities
Candidates must demonstrate excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations working knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution practices strong customer service skills business and financial acumen analytical and mathematical ability and effective oral and written communication skills. The role requires strong interpersonal skills organizational ability attention to detail consistent deadline management independent work capability with minimal supervision effective time management multitasking ability and meticulous accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

This position requires an active and unrestricted Registered or Licensed Pharmacy Technician credential issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy which must be maintained in good standing throughout employment in accordance with state and federal regulations with national certification required where mandated and preferred where not. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable background checks license verification and employment eligibility verification conducted in compliance with Pennsylvania and federal law. The posted pay range of $21.00 to $24.00 per hour reflects anticipated compensation based on experience qualifications licensure and internal equity with final pay determined in accordance with applicable law.
