Description of Work
The North Carolina Zoo is seeking two (2) energized and collaborative oriented Project Managers to be a part of the Planning and Construction team to help provide the oversight and delivery of challenging yet rewarding projects. The successful candidates will be an integral part of rewarding work in engineering and construction planning consultation inspection design and construction contract administrative services. A wide spectrum of work is available from repair and renovation projects to new construction projects.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $61545 - $75000

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed onthe vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are notrequired. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
Demonstrated knowledge of project management engineering & design methodologies construction methods and/or construction management.
Demonstrated knowledge of NC General Statutes and NC Building Codes relating to engineering planning design consulting contract administration construction renovation and/or major maintenance and repair.
Demonstrated knowledge to estimate costs monitor & manage construction projects.
Engineering and/or architectural design or construction administration experience or capital project management experience.
Experience in sustainable building practices.
Position/Physical Requirements
This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under DNCRs Telework Policy.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution
AND
two (2) years of related experience in construction project management
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.

Sign On Bonus Eligibility
To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government including without limitation the judicial system state executive branch agencies and the university system subject to the State Human Resources Act. Employees eligible for a sign-on must work at least 20 hours per week.
