The Registered Nurse2delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent mannerutilizingevidence-based standards of quality safety and service while ensuringpopulation-specific patient care.The Registered Nurse 2oversees nurses and allied health staffintheir dailypractice.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Assessesassigned patientsandevaluatesplans to includedocumentation ofnursing care. Reportssymptoms and changes in patients conditionand vital signs.Modifies patient treatment plans asindicatedby patients responsesconditionsand physician orders.

Reviewsevaluatesandreportsdiagnostic tests to assess patients condition.

Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patientsto assess plan implement and evaluate patient care plans.

Prepares patients for andassistswith examinationsproceduresand treatments.Considers patientage andculture during patient treatments and provides any needed informationregardingtreatmentplan.Nurturesa compassionate environment by providing psychological support.

Performsappropriate patienttests andsafelyadministers medications within the scope of practice.Administers andmaintainsaccuraterecords related to medications and treatments as perregulatory bodies policiesproceduresand physician orders.

Communicates plan of carein a timely manner topatientand family as well asthe appropriate team members ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (i.e. HIPAA).Usesbest practices for transitionof patient care.

Usesavailable resources toassistindischarge planning.

Plans prioritizes and adjusts assignments toaccomplishgoalsandrendersuperior patient care;seeksassistancewhenneeded.

Adapts to changing work demands andenvironment.Safelyoperatesmedical equipment.

Serves as a preceptor and assistsnewstaffin the provision of carein order tohelpthemacclimate tothe healthcare environmentanda direct patient care role.Provides conciseand constructivefeedback when needed.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

COREQUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelorof Science in nursing

Certification and Licensing:

Registered Nurse License; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

Experience:

Minimum 2 years ofnursing experience

KnowledgeSkillsand Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (i.e.sanitationdecontaminationetc.)

  • Excellent patient experience skills

  • Ability to recognize analyze and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability tomaintaineffective interpersonal relationships

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
