The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient centered care to women across the lifespan supporting the attainment and maintenance of optimal health for individuals with essentially normal pregnancies and gynecologic needs. This role encompasses antepartum intrapartum and postpartum care as well as gynecologic services health maintenance and management of minor acute illnesses. Responsibilities include conducting initial and ongoing assessments to determine appropriateness for midwifery care; providing individualized prenatal education; and collaborating with licensed health care providers as needed to ensure comprehensive high quality care. The CNM delivers routine prenatal care including monitoring vital signs fetal growth and development and laboratory results while addressing the physical nutritional and emotional needs of the patient and their family. The role also involves attending and supporting the natural process of labor and birth providing postpartum care to the mother completing initial newborn assessments and offering education guidance and referrals to community resources related to childbirth preparation breastfeeding nutrition exercise parenting and newborn care. Care is delivered in alignment with age related guidelines and a strong commitment to patient education advocacy and shared decision making.
PRACTICE SPECIFICS:
- Opportunity to work within a collaborative highvolume OB practice with care provided under a collaborative agreement with physicians and increasing autonomy as the midwifery model continues to develop.
- Join a team of experienced Certified Nurse Midwives who manage their own patient panels and provide continuity of care through delivery with a shared goal of building a fully independent midwifery program.

- Be part of a comprehensive care team consisting of 14 physicians 7 midwives 4 genetic counselors 3 nurse practitioners 1 physician assistant and 35 additional team members all committed to working together to achieve the best outcomes for patients.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master degree and certified registered nurse midwifery program as approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in MN
- Current certification in CPR.
- National certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
