Overview

Shift: PRN - As Needed

Join Our Ambulatory Unit Team and Elevate Perioperative Care. As a member of our interdisciplinary team you will apply your clinical expertise to deliver high-quality care to patients and families across the surgical experience. Our nurses practice in alignment with the ANA Code of Ethics the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing and the Professional Nurse Practice Model collaborating closely with physicians and caregivers to ensure exceptional outcomes.

In the Ambulatory Unit you will provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for patients of all ages including assessments surgical preparation and detailed discharge education to support safe recovery at home. All nurses maintain BLS and ACLS certification to ensure excellence in every phase of care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient and family needs develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and ensure continuity of care through appropriate education and referrals.

  • Deliver high-quality holistic nursing care using the nursing process critical thinking and clinical expertise in accordance with established policies procedures and standards.

  • Maintain accurate timely documentation to ensure a complete and legally sound patient record.

  • Delegate appropriately provide direction to other healthcare team members and maintain accountability for patient outcomes.

  • Provide age-appropriate culturally sensitive patient and family education utilizing hospital resources to support safe recovery and ongoing care.

  • Uphold regulatory safety and compliance standards (HIPAA Joint Commission OSHA Medicare/Medicaid) maintain required licensure/certifications and demonstrate UnityPoint Health values in daily practice.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma from an RN program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
    • Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must possess and maintain ACLS
