We are currently looking for a Site Support Assistantto join our Facilities & Laboratories Services Functionwithin the Corporate group.

This is a full-timeopportunity on a permanent basis. This role will be based onsite at 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU.Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Who are we

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices underpinned by science and research.

Infrastructure and Laboratory Services (I&LS) are part of the Corporate Division and provide engineering and specialist staff to deliver a safe working environment for staff particularly in our specialist scientific facilities. They support the Agency work by having clear funded programmes to maintain the infrastructure facilities and equipment as well as money to invest in unique scientific facilities and a centralised support process to where appropriate deliver efficiencies savings and value for money.

The Division has three departments:

  • Facilities & Laboratory Services day to day running & support of sites laboratories and other specialised facilities security catering cleaning waste and 10SC liaison for 10th Floor

  • Engineering Management of engineeringly complex buildings and infrastructure adhering to critical health and safety requirements and responding to alarms 24/7

  • Specialist Project & Programme Management of the Capital programme by providing Project Management / project engineering as required for: building alterations lab refurbs including high containment acquisition installation and commissioning of new plant equipment and digital IT and special programmes

Whats the role

This role provides essential site support activities to both sites assisting and/or deputising for the Site Support Co-ordinator as required. The post holder will largely work on their own initiative organising their tasks and prioritises own workload to accommodate unpredicted events with limited guidance from the line manager i.e. the post holder is managed not supervised. The role is seen as a valued and essential customer facing role at 10SC and is part of the delivery of science at NIBSC.

Key responsibilities:

  • As the main point of contact for both sites services providing support to the Agency and ILS teams either via Government Property Agency (GPA) Government Hubs Team (GHT) or ILS. Responsible for ensuring all enquiries both verbal and via the FLS inbox are dealt with in a timely manner to provide excellent Facilities support to all agency sites.

  • Collate log and track a wide range of site data in spreadsheets and by other means to provide meaningful data analysis and information across all sites. Responsible for processing documenting and tracking all services requests for the Agency.

  • Stores and goods in stock checking and stock control including procurement of consumables chemicals and other materials to maintain stock levels at all times for use by the Agency and by Science Research and Innovation (SR&I).

  • Delivering all goods equipment and materials to the SR&I laboratories in a timely manner and to the correct sites ensuring critical temperature sensitive goods are delivered within the tight deadlines dealing with any issues and ensuring the cold chain is maintained.

  • Operation of various specialist equipment and systems / services including Baler Forklift Truck Compactor Site Wide Gas Systems and Manifolds to ensure the site is kept clear of waste and other items and laboratory gases are available for use at all times.

  • Ensuring the safe effective and efficient use of the Site Wide Storage facility and hazardous chemical waste processes including access and documentation.

  • Maintain good relationships with supply companies for goods and equipment through good communications as well as liaising with Agency staff at all levels to deal with issues and problems that arise investigating and resolving such issues such as supply issues or invoice queries or booking and tracking of outgoing courier deliveries.
