The Superintendent of the Orleans Central Supervisory Union (OCSU) is actively seeking a dynamic student-centered and visionary leader to serve as the next Principal of Lake Region Union High School (LRUHS). About Lake Region Union High School
Lake Region Union High School serves an average of 350 students in Grades 9-12 with a daily schedule from 8:15 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. The school has earned a strong reputation for academic excellence student achievement and community pride.
LRUHS has been named the fourth-best high school in Vermont by U.S. News & World Report and achieved a national ranking of 1638. Rankings are based on performance on state assessments graduation rates and college readiness.
Leadership Vision
Superintendent Jacquelyn Ramsay-Tolman in her first year of leadership at OCSU is focused on accelerating and continuing the schools success by ensuring consistent resources strengthening cross-departmental collaboration and maintaining high standards for teaching and learning for all.
The Principalship at LRUHS
The Principal of Lake Region Union High School will serve as the instructional leader and cultural steward of the school working closely with students families staff and the broader community.
The Principal will lead a team of:
- Dedicated faculty and support staff
- Collaborative administrators
- Engaged office and operations staff
The Principal of Lake Region Union High School is expected to meet and model the highest standards for instructional leadership aligned with the Vermont Standards for School Leaders and the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL).
Key responsibilities include:
- Mission Vision and Core Values: Lead a shared vision for high-quality teaching and learning grounded in equity continuous improvement and collective responsibility.
- Teaching and Learning: Serve as the instructional leader by supporting evidence-based practices data-informed decision-making and rigorous engaging instruction for all learners.
- Equity and Cultural Responsiveness: Ensure inclusive practices that honor student voice address diverse learning needs and close opportunity gaps.
- Professional Capacity of Staff: Develop the collective efficacy of faculty and staff through coaching feedback collaborative learning structures and shared leadership.
- Positive School Culture and Climate: Foster a safe respectful and inclusive school environment that supports student and staff well-being.
- Family and Community Engagement: Build authentic partnerships with families and community stakeholders to support student success.
- Ethical and Reflective Leadership: Model integrity transparency and reflective practice in all aspects of leadership.
- Operational and Systems Leadership: Manage school operations resources and systems to support teaching and learning effectively.
