Job Description:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Program Facilitation and Coordination
With the support of the Community Program Manager reviews develops and implements the Adult Education programs that meet client needs and adhere to Community Services (Calgary) education standards.
Reviews and approves Adult Education curriculum in consultation with the Manager of Community Programs.
Researches and/or develops new Adult Education course curriculum to ensure continued high quality and relevance to clients.
Develops monthly course schedules based on program guidelines client needs facilitators availability and qualifications and room availability; considers other Community Services (Calgary) programming as able/appropriate.
Ensures facilitators have required resources.
Prepares annual program statistics.
Assists in the preparation of annual reports to funders as required.
2. Client Support
Facilitates regular Adult Education program orientation sessions to potential participants and volunteers.
May facilitate Adult Education classes in the absence of qualified facilitator; and
May meet with clients to discuss/recommend future education plans.
3. Volunteer Coordination
Orients and trains volunteers for adult education programs.
Provides coaching and evaluation for volunteers.
4. Financial
Provides input into and assists in monitoring the Adult Education Programs annual operating budget.
Prepares and submits purchase requisitions and other finance documents in accordance with Finance procedures.
5. Administrative
Assures program is aligned and complies with Salvation Army Accreditation Standards.
Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of learning sessions by administering surveys or other evaluations tools.
Ensures Adult Education program data is accurate and recorded in a timely manner.
Prepares and submits documentation reports and statistics as required to management.
Accumulates relevant program statistics.
Maintains confidentiality and keep accurate client files/case notes.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports to funders as required.
Assists in the preparation of program and funding proposals as requested.
Prepares monthly program report for the Community Program Manager.
Participates in regular Community and Family staff meetings as applicable.
Participates in regular supervision meetings with direct supervisor
Attends meetings pertaining to position as assigned by the supervisor.
May assist Community Program Manager in researching and developing future community partnerships for the program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a temporary full-time position at 40 hours per week until April 23 2026.
Working Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm. May be required to work evenings and weekends.
Working environment is primarily in an office.
Participates in field trips that are relevant to the program (up to 10% of time).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of a two year diploma in a related field. (i.e. adult education behavior sciences social work).
Certificate in Adult Education Facilitation an asset.
Current Basic First Aid Certification with Level A or C CPR from an Alberta government approved training provider.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
At least one year of related experience in facilitating and/or coordination of programs in an Adult Learning environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills and Capabilities:
Willingness to respect promote and support the mission vision and values of TSA and develop an understanding of the purpose of the Salvation Army in Canada and its implication as related to position responsibilities.
Satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector Search
Attention to detail problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
Knowledge of literacy essential life skills and adult education principles.
Significant experience teaching adult foundational learners and facilitating through a learner centered trauma-informed lens. Remaining current with the best practices and trends in their specific field (literacy employment etc.)
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $24.00 to $30.00 with a maximum of $35.99.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
