Position Detail:
Wilson Medical Centers Radiation Oncology Department isseekinga compassionate and skilledNurse Practitioner (NP)orPhysician Assistant (PA)to join our Radiation Oncology teampart time. The advanced practice provider will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists medical physicists nurses radiationtherapistsand support staff to deliver comprehensive care to patients undergoing radiation therapy. This role involves the management of radiation treatment side effects follow-up care patient education prevention and screening research commission on canceractivitiesand coordination of multidisciplinary care.
This is a part time (0.50 FTE) position.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in oncology radiation oncology preferred but not
Experience managing complex patient cases and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Provide education to patients and caregiversregardingthe diagnosis treatment plan risk and benefits sideeffectsandlogisticsof radiation therapy
Conduct radiation oncology follow-up visits to assess patient response manage side effects and provide supportive care
Perform clinical assessments and management for patients with no scheduled appointments
Manage disease specific symptoms as well as acute and late onset radiation related effects
Chart patient progressmaintainingdetailed andaccuratehealth records
Monitor lab and imaging results and collaborate with physician on necessary treatment modifications
Document patient progress in the EMR and communicate effectively with other members of the care team
In cases of emergency do everything possible within the scope of the license and certification to save a patients life or to save a patient from serious harm
Educate patients and families about treatment plans side effects symptom management and survivorship
Provide oncology navigation with education and follow-up
Participate in tumor boards and care planning meetings as needed
Provide survivorship care plans and coordinate post-treatment follow-up
Manage urgent patient concerns. medication refills and triage clinical issues
Participate in educatingnew staff RNs
Assistin quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the department
Maintain institutional requirements for compliance
Protect patient confidentialitymaintainethics and abide by North Carolina laws
