The Position

This position will assist customers (parties attorneys employees and general public) concerning court procedures and assigned files for Probate and Childrens cases screen requests and determine proper course of action answer questions about files and procedures as needed and provide copies of documents after determining requestor is authorized to receive copies.

The incumbent will process Probate CINA and Delinquency case files. Responsibilities include processing documents which require court action such as motions stipulations opposition and reply memoranda while determining if documents are properly filed in accordance with technical provisions of statutes and court rules ensuring motions are accompanied by all necessary supporting documents including certificates and/or affidavits of service proposed orders and that all documents are signed and affidavits are notarized.

The incumbent will notify counsel agencies or pro se litigants in a timely manner of any deficiencies discovered citing the appropriate rule or statute. Additionally you will maintain and modify the computer motion tracking program prepare routing slip to judicial officer and route files for final determination and/or calendaring of oral argument. This position will serve as one of the two front counter customer service clerks. As needed you will act as back-up for other desks.


The Environment
Located in the Nesbett Courthouse the Probate/Childrens Division is made up of ten Court Case Managers 2 and three Courtroom Judicial Assistants under the supervision of the Court Supervisor 4.


The Work Hours
This position is scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.

OR

A bachelors degree from an accredited college.
