About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB is committed to governments goals of making life better for people in B.C. improving services and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. Finance is separated into five work groups (Finance Corporate Finance Wholesale Finance Retail Shared Services and Regulatory & Compliance) and provides financial services to all LDB divisions. The Finance division provides financial reporting advisory services budgeting capital asset reporting and financial transactional processing (banking accounting payable accounts receivable). Finance is responsible for the LDBs enterprise risk management program and oversees regulatory compliance for BC liquor manufacturers/warehouses.

About this role:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Compliance Audit the Senior Compliance Auditor manages and conducts all aspects of the audit program for an assigned portfolio of audits. This includes developing the audit program framework creating the annual audit plan conducting and overseeing audits and preparing related reports and schedules. The Senior Compliance Auditor works with a wide network of internal and external contacts and supervises a team of compliance auditors and administrative staff.

This role may require occasional overnight travel within the Province of British Columbia. This role may require working outside of regular business hours to meet deadlines.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) with active membership in good standing with CPA British Columbia (CPABC). Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the last five (5) years) experience conducting compliance operational financial internal fraud audits/reviews or financial investigations.

*Preference may be given to those candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience as an audit professional in a regulatory compliance financial audit or investigative role.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment.
  • One (1) year of recent (within the last five (5) years) experience supervising or acting as a team-leader in a financial and administrative environment.
  • Beverage alcohol industry/supply chain or whole/sale retail operations.
