Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced enthusiastic and committed Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Wellingborough starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to teach pupils in their final year of primary education preparing them academically socially and emotionally for the transition to secondary school.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across all areas of the curriculum with a focus on preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage assessments. You will provide academic support while fostering resilience independence and positive learning behaviours.

You will work closely with teaching assistants Key Stage 2 colleagues and senior leaders to ensure consistency and high standards. Building strong relationships with parents and carers will also be an essential part of your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum

  • Prepare pupils for SATs and secondary school transition

  • Assess track and monitor pupil progress

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEND and EAL learners

  • Promote independence resilience and positive learning behaviours

  • Maintain a structured and inclusive classroom environment

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings CPD and school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Key Stage 2 ideally Year 6

  • Be confident delivering the national curriculum and assessments

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective proactive and adaptable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion and safeguarding

  • Work effectively as part of a supportive collaborative team
