Job Summary

We are seeking a caring patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Gillingham starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential academically socially and emotionally.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos and prides itself on providing tailored support for pupils with a wide range of needs including ASD ADHD social emotional and communication needs. Staff work collaboratively to ensure each child receives high-quality support. Senior leadership is approachable and committed to staff development offering guidance mentoring and professional training.


The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs. Your responsibilities will include one-to-one support small-group interventions and in-class assistance to help pupils access the curriculum. You will play a key role in supporting pupils social emotional and behavioural development helping them to build confidence independence and resilience.

You will also liaise with parents carers and external professionals to ensure coordinated support contributing to personalised learning plans and strategies that help pupils thrive in school.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND

  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets

  • Support pupils academic social and emotional development

  • Promote positive behaviour independence and confidence

  • Observe record and report on pupil progress

  • Work closely with teachers SENCo and other support staff

  • Support pupils during transitions break times and structured activities

  • Contribute to staff meetings CPD sessions and school initiatives

  • Maintain a safe structured and inclusive learning environment

  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
