Our client is looking to appoint a commercially minded Lawyer who will also act as the Data Protection Officer. This role will serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior stakeholders providing practical and strategic guidance across legal regulatory compliance and data protection matters in multiple jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business growth managing legal risk and ensuring the organisation operates in line with applicable laws and parallel the role will own and lead the data protection framework embedding privacy principles across the business and acting as the main point of contact for data protection related matters.

As a Lawyer & DPO your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Drafting reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial and corporate agreements
Advising senior management on commercial contractual IT software data and M&A related topics
Providing legal support on corporate governance matters and internal policies
Supporting international expansion initiatives and new market entry projects
You will also take full ownership of data protection responsibilities in your capacity as DPO including
Overseeing GDPR and data protection compliance across the organisation
Developing and maintaining data protection policies procedures and training programmes
Conducting data protection impact assessments and internal audits
Handling data subject requests and incident response processes
Acting as the main liaison with supervisory authorities and internal stakeholders
Additional responsibilities
Managing and coordinating external legal counsel in relation to disputes litigation and international matters
Liaising with foreign advisors in relation to company set ups and overseas services
Supporting internal teams with registry filings and corporate maintenance requirements
Exposure to insurance related matters and ESG initiatives is considered a plus

Business and commercial agreements
Employment and consultancy contracts
Non disclosure agreements
Software licensing and support agreements
Data processing and data protection agreements
Supplier and vendor agreements
Managed services agreements
Escrow arrangements and contractual addenda
Fully qualified lawyer with strong academic and professional standing
Minimum 4 years experience in a leading commercial law firm or in house legal role
Strong commercial mindset with the ability to provide pragmatic legal advice
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross functional teams
High attention to detail with strong organisational and prioritisation skills
Fluent in English with an additional EU language considered an asset
Previous experience within regulated environments such as payments or fintech is advantageous
