Child Care Teacher
Location: Richmond VA 23298
Pay Rate: $38K 48K per year
Schedule: TBD 7.5-hour shift between the hours of 6A-8P. Mon Fri.
Utilizing the Reggio education approach the Child Care Teacher plans develops and implements child creative and adaptive child lesson plans and provides a safe secure and engaging environment for children from six weeks to six years. As part of a teaching team the Child Care Teacher ensures that interactions with children support their self-esteem and promote their growth and development. The Child Care Teacher makes learning a fun process that allows and encourages children to explore their full potential.
Requirements:

Two (2) year degree in early childhood education child psychology psychology or a closely related field.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or related field (i.e. Child Psychology Childrens Literature). Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure: Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate.

Previous experience working with children ages six (6) weeks to six (6) years of age (paid or unpaid).

Ability to work in a fast-paced noisy environment

Strong communication reading writing and comprehension skills

Problem-solving and logical thinking abilities

Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to frequent change

Physical ability to bend climb and actively engage with children

Strong interpersonal skills for frequent parent and team interactions

Familiarity with the Reggio philosophical approach to education for children (Preferred)

Plan develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Reggio principles.

Create a safe engaging and inclusive classroom environment.

Document daily activities developmental progress and observations for families.
-
Support childrens cognitive social emotional language and motor development.
-
Promote independence self-esteem and positive behavior through supportive interactions.
-
Maintain classroom cleanliness and follow infection control and safety standards.

Supervise teacher aides and volunteers as assigned.
-
Collaborate with teaching staff leadership and families to support childrens needs.
-
Participate in staff meetings training sessions and required continuing education.

Ensure compliance with licensing accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Support smooth transitions for children and families.

Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
