Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for the Labor and Delivery unit. This role is responsible for providing high-quality patient-centered nursing care to mothers and newborns in a fast-paced acute care environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and positive birth experiences.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients and newborns
Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
Assist physicians and midwives during deliveries and procedures
Educate patients and families on labor delivery recovery and newborn care
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to clinical protocols
Participate in emergency response and unit-specific competencies

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
Minimum of 1 year of nursing/patient care experience in an acute care setting required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing required
BLS Certification required
ACLS PALS and NRP certifications as applicable to unit standards
New graduates or nurses new to the practice area have up to 1 year to complete specialty requirements
