Job Summary:
The NICU/Pediatrics Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations patient care quality and staff management within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and general Pediatrics unit. This includes hiring scheduling budgeting policy development ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a positive work environment. The Nurse Manager works closely with neonatologists pediatric specialists and other staff to provide exceptional care to critically ill pediatric patients and their families. Additionally the role involves general administrative responsibilities including collective bargaining and disciplinary actions.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the NICU PICU and Pediatrics unit.
- Ensure high-quality patient care for critically ill pediatric patients.
- Manage staff including hiring scheduling and performance evaluation.
- Develop and manage the unit budget.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Collaborate with neonatologists pediatric specialists and other healthcare professionals.
- Review Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations caucus discussions and working meetings.
- Document recommend and effectuate discipline at all levels.
- Initiate authorize and complete disciplinary action pursuant to system rules policies procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Direct and effectuate management policies and practices.
- Access and navigate records system to obtain and review information necessary to execute provisions of applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Contribute to the management of staff and systemic development and success.
- Discuss and develop system policies and procedures.
- Use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues and needs.
- Hire transfer suspend layoff recall promote discharge assign direct or discipline employees pursuant to applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Work with Labor Relations to discern past practice when necessary.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Professional Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in nursing supervision or as a charge nurse.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Current Neonatal Pulmonary Resuscitation (NRP) card or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Master s Degree in Nursing.
- Bilingual proficiency.
