Senior Technical Product Owner (Berlin or Cologne)

We are a distributed team of software developers regularly meeting in Cologne and Berlin.

We are passionate about delivering high quality web applications with a strong focus on performance scalability and robust solutions that dont bother us during a nice board game session on a Saturday night.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Owner to lead the product lifecycle and delivery within our agile teams.

In this pivotal role youll bridge the gap between our seasoned engineers and stakeholders ensuring clear communication refining technical requirements and eliminating obstacles for seamless high-quality product delivery.

Tasks

• Product & Delivery Ownership: You take full responsibility for the backlog. You define clear deliverables for our SaaS services and custom projects to make progress tangible for the team and stakeholders alike.
• Technical Refinement: You dont just write tickets; you understand the under the hood requirements. You translate complex business needs into technical specs utilizing tools like Spec-Driven-Development.
• Progress Management: Based on estimations created together with your dev team (usually 26 developers) you monitor the project health. You ensure we stay on track and proactively flag when additional support or scope adjustments are needed.
• Stakeholder Sparring: You are the primary contact for our clients and in-house teams managing expectations with transparency and technical competence.
• Encouraging and ensuring adherence to agile methodologies tailored to meet our specific project needs.

Requirements

• Experience: You have 5 years of experience in technical product management or a similar role. You are used to the dynamics of both long-term SaaS development and project-based environments.
• Technical Depth: You possess solid knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript HTTP APIs Cloud architectures). You can discuss technical trade-offs with senior developers on eye-level.
• Analytical Mindset: You are a pro at managing progress through estimations and metrics without losing sight of the human element in the team.
• German Fluency: Unlike many other openings at verkstedt this position requires fluency in German (C1/C2) as well as excellent communication skills in English.
• AI Affinity: You embrace AI tools to improve workflows and are eager to explore new ways of working.
• Proximity: You are based near Berlin or Cologne for our regular high-value team meetings.
