Job Summary

Title: Fork Truck Operator
Location: Houston Texas 77020 (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $19.00 - 21.00/hour
Employment Type: Temporary to Hire
Duration: October 2026
Schedule: 2nd Shift - Monday to Friday 2:00 PM 10:30 PM
Training Schedule:
  • 1st Shift - 6:00 AM 2:30 PM during initial training
  • Possible Split Shift - 10:00 AM 6:30 PM as training progresses
  • Saturdays required - 7:00 AM 11:00 AM (2 3 Saturdays/month after training)
Tekberry is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Distribution Fork Truck Operator to work on-site with our client a leading consumer products manufacturing company. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity and strong performers will be considered for permanent placement when openings are available. As a W2 employee you will have access to health benefits.
Responsibilities:

Fork Truck & Warehouse Operations

  • Operate a sit-down fork truck safely within a distribution warehouse environment

  • Load semi-trailers accurately and safely while following all loading procedures

  • Follow FIFO or LIFO requirements based on product destination

  • Unload materials and finished goods from incoming trailers and place them in assigned warehouse locations

  • Locate move and stage products on pallets or crates for storage or shipment

  • Identify damaged product and report shortages or quality issues immediately

Product Handling & Rework

  • Perform rework activities including lifting and stacking cases (up to 40 lbs) or dumping product as required

  • Complete partial pallets by manually lifting cases and combining pallets at end of runs

  • Shrink wrap pallets manually as needed

  • Close open case flaps using tape guns when detected

Shipping Loading & Trailer Safety

  • Load trucks according to Bills of Lading and safe loading procedures

  • Follow Trailer Safety Procedures (4-part control): jack stands dock locks glad hand locks and wheel chocks

  • Complete trailer inspection safety sheets before entering trailers

  • Ensure docks remain secure after loads are released

  • Verify shipping documentation requirements (trailer numbers seal numbers etc.)

  • Install trailer seals correctly

  • Load CHEP pallets into pallet hoppers as needed

  • Unload pallets from palletizers (without operating or interfacing with the machine)

Inventory & Documentation

  • Accurately complete all assigned paperwork including tally sheets put-away sheets and downtime sheets

  • Match shipping paperwork to product accurately and on time

  • Put product away using correct product codes and proper stock rotation

  • May assist with periodic cycle counts as assigned

  • Notify Dock Coordinators Distribution Admins or team leads when inventory levels are low or approaching out-of-stock

Housekeeping & Equipment Care

  • Maintain assigned fork truck and equipment in clean safe working condition

  • Perform weekly fork truck cleaning

  • Keep work areas clean organized and free of trip hazards

  • Empty trash and separate recyclables at the end of each shift

  • Run sweeper or scrubber machines per schedule or as needed

  • Clean dump areas and properly store damaged or partial pallets

Teamwork

  • Work toward team productivity and safety goals

  • Assist teammates as needed and support overall warehouse operations

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to work 2nd shift and required Saturdays after training

  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to plant and OSHA regulations

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical warehouse tasks

  • Basic computer and paperwork accuracy skills

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Required Assessments:

Candidates must successfully pass:

  • Mechanical Aptitude Test

  • Learning Ability Test

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment

  • Fork truck driving experience (sit-down)

  • Experience loading and unloading trailers

  • Some inventory control or cycle count experience

  • Fork truck certification (bring record if available)

Dress Code / PPE Requirements:
  • Full-length pants

  • Steel-toe shoes (must provide own)

  • Safety glasses and ear protection (provided by plant)

  • No tank tops shorts jewelry earbuds or excessively loose/tight clothing

  • Additional PPE (hard hats gloves lab coats etc.) may be required based on tasks
