- The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
- DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES.
To provide all choir direction as necessary to support the 1100 Protestant worship service at Hill Air Force Base Legacy Chapel Utah under the oversight of the assigned chaplain to the worship service.
1.1. BASIC SERVICES/QUALIFICATIONS.
This position shall be accomplished on a weekly basis as follows: weekly services weekly rehearsals special services and special rehearsals (authorized by the Wing Chaplain or Protestant chaplain). This position shall be accomplished on a weekly basis as follows: Not to Exceed (NTE) 52 weekend Services and NTE 5 Special Services. Performances shall take place at the Main Chapel (Bldg. 475) or Chapel Annex (Bldg. 445). All other locations shall be by approval of the Wing Chaplain and/or Protestant Chaplain. The individual should be present at least 15 minutes prior to performances and remain at least 10 minutes following the service. These and any additional position requirements shall be accomplished as necessary in accordance with the provisions below.
1.2. QUALIFICATIONS.
Knowledge: A minimum of three years experience in the field with the particular knowledge
skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. The individual must have a
minimum of two years experience in selecting and directing Protestant service music that
reflects knowledge and sensitivity towards the diversity of Protestant worship styles (gospel
contemporary traditional and liturgical). The individual must read sheet music and be able to
play either the piano or guitar in order to provide musical accompaniment on occasion.
Education: An associates degree in music is preferred but not required. Three years
experience can be substituted for education.
Experience: A minimum of three years experience in working as a Protestant Music
director. References from three former employers must be provided unless said experience was
acquired at the Hill AFB Chapel. References will be contacted and a negative recommendation
will be an evaluating factor in the determination of technical acceptability.
1.3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. The duties include but are not limited to the
following:
1.3.1. Lead and provide musical direction for all weekly services and special services. 52
Sunday Worship services and 5 optional events/services at the Protestant or Wing Chaplains
discretion.
1.3.2. Coordinate all music selections with the Protestant Chaplain through weekly contact.
Providing the Protestant Chaplain with musical selections by Wednesday prior to Sunday
service.
1.3.3. Coordinate all Sunday services with all accompanists including memorial services
special services revivals etc.
1.3.4. Assist the Protestant Chaplain with coordination of special seasonal musical
celebrations including Christmas and Easter.
1.3.5. Secure a suitable replacement when necessary who will meet all of the requirements
as set forth in this performance work statement (PWS). The Protestant Chaplain will be
notified as soon as possible when a replacement is required during times of sickness vacation
etc.
1.3.6. Provide all labor and transportation necessary to perform these duties.
1.3.7. Provide records of his/her qualification and obtain periodic training such as continuing
education for employees operating on military installations and training in new developments in
the area of this statement of work. The government may inspect these records at any time.
1.3.8. A background check will be performed on all individuals working with youth in
conjunction with the contract for these services. Forms for providing necessary information for
this background check will be provided. Personal information provided on this form is given on
a voluntary basis; however failure to provide this information may result in ineligibility to
perform this contract. Compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974 Public Law 93-579 dated
December 31 1974 (5 U.S.C. 552a) and applicable agency regulations apply.
1.3.9. Give the chapel staff a two-week notice of any extended period of absence. Extended
period of absence is defined as an absence for more than two coordination with the
Wing Chaplain or Protestant Chaplain the contractor will provide a substitute to perform
services in their absence. This substitute must be of equal or greater capability than contractor
and approved by the approving official. Contractor will develop a documented method of
reimbursement for any substitutes.
1.3.10. Individual will adhere to most the current government standards and regulations.
1.5. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: Personnel shall read understand speak and write English well with demonstrated organization facilitation and communication skills.
