A Day in the Life

Role Overview
The Senior Director Enterprise Business Platforms for HR Payroll Legal and Compliance is a senior IT leadership role accountable for the end-to-end ownership performance and evolution of Medtronics enterprise platforms supporting these critical corporate functions.

This role requires a leader who serves as the face of IT to senior business leadership both for topics related to HR Payroll Legal and Compliance and as a trusted enterprise IT leader for broader technology topics priorities and transformation discussions. The successful candidate will forge strong executive relationships operate with deep business context and jointly drive digital transformation with business partners.

Reporting to the VP of Enterprise Architecture Global Functions and SAP COE this leader will balance operational excellence with innovation act as a force multiplier across the IT ecosystem and drive AI automation and GenAI enabled transformation while building a future-ready globally distributed bi-modal IT organization.

Key Responsibilities

Business Relationship Management and Enterprise IT Leadership

  • Serve as the primary IT partner and visible face of IT to senior leadership across HR Payroll Legal and Compliance
  • Act as a trusted enterprise IT representative for broader IT topics strategy discussions and cross-domain initiatives impacting the business
  • Build and sustain strong executive-level relationships grounded in trust credibility and delivery
  • Develop deep business and domain knowledge personally and across the IT team so technology decisions are shaped by strategy regulatory requirements and operational realities
  • Partner with business leaders to co-create digital and technology roadmaps aligned to enterprise priorities outcomes and value realization
  • Establish and operate a mature Business Relationship Management model that enables structured engagement shared accountability and continuous alignment between IT and business stakeholders

Bi-Modal IT Leadership

  • Build and lead a bi-modal IT organization that delivers operational excellence resilience security and compliance for core enterprise platforms while enabling innovation agility and rapid value delivery through AI automation and emerging digital capabilities
  • Define clear operating models governance funding approaches and success metrics across both modes
  • Ensure strong coordination across run change and innovation enabling speed while maintaining reliability

End-to-End Platform and Domain Ownership

  • Own the full lifecycle of HR Payroll Legal and Compliance technology platforms including availability performance security compliance and cost management
  • Ensure audit-ready reliable and scalable operations across systems data and integrations
  • Establish and maintain strong operational discipline across incident problem change and release management

Digital Transformation AI and Automation Leadership

  • Act as a force multiplier and thought leader who drives change through digital transformation jointly with business partners
  • Lead enterprise digital transformation initiatives across HR Payroll Legal and Compliance aligning technology process and operating model change
  • Champion adoption of AI automation and GenAI to improve productivity insight generation decision support and user experience
  • Identify prioritize and scale high-impact use cases in close partnership with business leaders and central Data AI Automation and Enterprise Architecture teams
  • Ensure solutions are industrialized secure and scalable translating innovation into sustained business value

Global Workforce and Future-Ready Operating Model

  • Design and scale a future-ready global IT organization leveraging onshore teams Global Capability Centers nearshore and offshore models and strategic partners
  • Build capabilities aligned to skills of the future including AI data-driven decisioning automation product thinking and digital platforms
  • Establish clear role ownership capability expectations and career paths that attract retain and grow top global talent
  • Create an organization designed for speed resilience innovation and long-term sustainability

Vendor Financial and Portfolio Management

  • Own strategic vendor and systems integrator relationships contracts and performance management
  • Drive value realization financial discipline and cost optimization
  • Manage budgets investment prioritization and long-term platform economics aligned to enterprise strategy

Leadership Talent and Culture

  • Build and lead a high-performing leadership team
  • Develop talent with strong emphasis on future-ready skills business acumen ownership and execution excellence
  • Cultivate innovators disruptors and digital thought leaders who continuously challenge the status quo
  • Foster a culture of collaboration accountability learning and continuous innovation

Qualifications and Experience

Required - Must Have

  • Bachelors degree with 15 or more years of progressive IT leadership experience in large complex enterprise environments or Graduate degree with 13 or more years of progressive IT leadership experience in large complex enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated success operating as the face of IT and trusted partner to senior business leadership
  • Prior experience leading HR Payroll Legal Compliance or closely related enterprise functions or comparable corporate platforms with similar scale regulatory and operational complexity
  • Strong track record leading enterprise digital transformation AI automation and GenAI enablement

Preferred

  • Proven experience building strong business-facing IT organizations with deep domain expertise
  • Experience leading global distributed teams and future-ready operating models
  • Demonstrated success managing complex vendor and systems integrator ecosystems
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence align and lead at senior levels
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as medical devices life sciences or healthcare
  • Prior success establishing or scaling Global Capability Centers
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture data platforms and integration ecosystems
  • Experience driving transformation in large matrixed organizations

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$206400.00 - $309600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
