Rate of Pay: 19.00 - 24.17 per hour
Summary:
The Rent Officer will be responsible for managing rental income for a defined neighbourhood ensuring effective rent collection arrears recovery and tenancy sustainment. The role plays a key part in maximising housing revenue streams supporting vulnerable tenants and reducing the risk of homelessness while working in line with legislation council policies and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage rent accounts for a portfolio of properties maximising income collection and reducing arrears
- Monitor rent accounts and take early intervention action in line with pre-action protocols and rent collection policies
- Recover rent arrears and enforce tenancy conditions where necessary
- Provide advice on housing and welfare benefits supporting tenants to maximise income and entitlements
- Prepare reports court papers and represent the Council at court for possession cases related to rent arrears
- Conduct tenant interviews and home visits to support rent recovery and tenancy sustainment
Qualification:
- Minimum Level 2 qualifications in subjects relevant to the role
Essentials:
- Minimum 2 years experience in social housing or a relevant customer-facing role
- Strong knowledge of rent income collection and arrears recovery processes
- Experience preparing court documentation and attending court hearings

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
- You should have right to work in U.K
- This role requires a Basic DBS
