JOB TITLE:

Library Assistant Senior- Mailroom Coe Library

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide mail room service for UW Libraries and tenants occupying Coe Library. Transport books and other materials between branch libraries. Manage public areas in response to administrative guidelines including moving or making minor repairs to study furniture and library shelving. Assist supervisor in shelving management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive and sort mail from campus mail service and manage on-campus and U.S. Postal Service mail from UW Libraries and Coe Library tenants for pickup; receive deliveries from Shipping and Receiving; secure the mail room and its contents from inappropriate use theft etc.; receive monthly bindery shipment for the Collection Management team; coordinate with FedEx pickups and deliveries; advise library personnel on mail and shipping procedures following guidance from campus mail service; supervise student employees; recommend necessary changes in policies or procedures. Track and deliver orders received.
  • Drive the library delivery van:maintain weekday schedule of deliveries and pickup among on-campus libraries including the Law Library and the American Heritage Center. Pick up/deliver additional materials on an as-needed basis for special projects or as directed by supervisor.
  • Under the direction of the Library Deans Office move/rearrange library furniture as needed set up and arrange furniture and rooms for library events assist with the disposal and/or transfer of assets including removal and/or storage of furniture and equipment assist with the preparation of property disposal forms.
  • Monitor group study rooms and public study areas for condition of equipment and furniture; coordinate with Coe Circulation and Stacks Maintenance to resolve customer use issues and Library Deans office to resolve equipment issues. Perform general maintenance:make minor repairs to library furniture or material transport equipment. Monitor facilities issues including leaks temperatures carpet etc. Assist with remediation for areas identified as health or safety risks.
  • Assist supervisor with shelving and stacks maintenance duties. Train student employees on shelving workflows and procedures monitor and report shelving needs and oversee shelving team in absence of supervisor. Assemble/disassemble library shelving.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associates degree or equivalent combination of work and experience

Experience: 1-year work-related experience

Required licensure certification registration or other requirements:

  • Valid drivers license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.

  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
