Whats the job

About the role

As an Engineering Squad Lead you will focus on enabling the growth and performance of the Order Sourcing team whilemaintaininga high standard of delivery. You will work closely with Product Owners to enhance day-to-day collaboration ensure the teams workremainsaligned with broader business priorities and drive continuous improvement in how the teamoperates.

A key part of the role is to support and guide engineers through ongoing mentoring coaching and constructive feedback. By combining strong technical knowledge with effective people leadership you will help the teamoperateefficiently deliver value consistently and continue to develop their skills and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a people manager for the team supporting individual growth career development and wellbeing through regular one-to-one discussions coaching and structured performance feedback.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of teamobjectives ensuring commitments are met and remain aligned with customer needs product priorities and engineering expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in team effectiveness and delivery by evolving ways of working with a strong emphasis on Agile and Scrum practices including sprint planning reviews and retrospectives.
  • Provide consistent coaching and constructive feedback to help team members strengthen both their technical skills and professional behaviours.
  • Work in close partnership with Chapter Leaders to share delivery insights support capability development and enable growth at both an individual and team level.
  • Apply solid software engineering experience together with people leadership to uphold high engineering standards and maximise the teams overall impact.
  • Set clear measurable goals aligned with wider organisationalobjectives track progress within an Agile framework and proactivelyidentifyand mitigate risks to support sustainable and predictable delivery.

What youll bring

  • Solid experience in software engineering with exposure to web technologies across backend frontend and/or quality engineering.
  • Good understanding of the IT landscape including current and emerging technologies and their relevance to retail or similar industries.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating teams in large complex and fast-paced matrix environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation.
  • Clear and effective communication skills combined with a collaborative leadership approach.
  • Practical experience working in Agile iterative delivery environments contributing to planning team ceremonies and continuous improvement within Scrum-based ways of working.
  • Ability to solve complex problems work effectively in ambiguous situations and deliver practical outcomes.
  • Strong focus on people leadership including coaching mentoring and developing team members.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
  • Understanding of modern QA practices and testing approaches.
  • Sound knowledge of infrastructure concepts with experience working with automation and test frameworks.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
