HumanAbility is a Jobs and Skills Council for the health human services aged care and disability sport & recreation and early childhood industries.
HumanAbilitys objective is to advance education by supporting skills and workforce development for the above specified industries. It is a values-based organisation that is not-for-profit industry-owned and led that is contracted by the federal government.
HumanAbility will achieve its objectives through:
Implementation of the Jobs & Skills Councils Strengthening Australias National Vocational Education and Training System program or its replacement program and similar programs supported by governments and/or industry;
Workforce planning activities that develop strategies to address workforce challenges using high-quality data and evidence on current and emerging skills needs (in collaboration with Jobs and Skills Australia) associated with a range of educational pathways including vocational education and training (VET) and higher education;
Formal and informal training product development including resources aligned with standards set by Skills Ministers to improve the quality speed-to-market and responsiveness of nationally recognised training products;
Contributions to the implementation promotion and monitoring of VET; and
Industry stewardship to advance education by acting as a source of intelligence on issues affecting relevant industries and national training system opportunities.

The Governance Administration and Committees Coordinator enhances organisational capacity and effectiveness by providing key administrative and governance support to the Board and other committees across HumanAbility. This full-time ongoing role (subject to funding currently through mid-2028) can be based anywhere in Australia and will involve regular travel for meetings workshops and industry events.
About the Position
The Governance Administration and Committees Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening HumanAbilitys governance and operational effectiveness. The position provides high-quality administrative and secretariat support to the Board and a range of governance and advisory committees including Industry Advisory Technical and project-specific committees.
Working closely with Board Directors senior executives and leaders the role supports the smooth operation of governance forums through the coordination of meetings preparation and distribution of papers and accurate minute-taking. The Coordinator brings a strong focus on systems processes and governance with excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills and thrives in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
Key Accountabilities
Senior Administration & Committees Coordination
Provide high-level administrative and secretariat support to the Board Board Committees Chairs and Company Secretary
Coordinate end-to-end committee operations including agendas papers briefings minute-taking and follow-up actions
Support key organisational committees such as Industry Advisory Committees and Technical Committees
Prepare forward meeting schedules and manage records membership documentation and induction materials
Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual meetings across governance and consultative forums
Manage competing deadlines and ensure timely accurate dissemination of documentation
Governance & Systems Management
Maintain and manage governance and stakeholder systems (e.g. Board portals CRM SharePoint and project management tools)
Ensure documentation is prepared circulated and stored in line with governance requirements policies and Terms of Reference
Support risk management compliance and governance processes through strong systems and record-keeping
Contribute to efficient project and quality control processes from initiation to delivery
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate confidently and professionally with Board Directors Committee Chairs the Company Secretary CEO and senior executives
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support committee operations and project delivery
Exercise discretion confidentiality and sound judgement in all stakeholder interactions
Provide clear updates on timelines progress and deliverables
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to support governance and project outcomes
Support effective planning coordination and timeline management across multiple workstreams
Contribute insights and support cross-functional initiatives in a small fast-paced environment
Skills and Experience
A post-secondary qualification in business administration project management engagement or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience
Demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative governance or executive support including working with Boards committees or senior leaders
Exceptional organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders
Strong written and verbal communication skills including high-quality minute taking and document preparation
Proficiency in Board management systems (such as Diligent or similar) Microsoft Office and project management tools; experience with Adobe highly regarded
Ability to work independently with initiative while also collaborating effectively within a fast-paced cross-functional environment
A strong understanding of confidentiality and discretion with the ability to manage sensitive and privileged information appropriately
Capacity to quickly develop an understanding of the organisation its operating environment industry priorities and broader policy or political context
High attention to detail with a proven ability to deliver accurate timely and high-quality work
A collaborative professional approach with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Board Directors and senior executives
Other Information
There may be times when it is required to work outside normal business hours i.e. evenings and weekends to meet operational and/or stakeholder requirements and dependant on work deliverables the role may be required to undertake travel.
We operate a hybrid working model. While flexibility is supported the balance of office-based work in-person attendance at meetings events etc and remote work will vary depending on role location and business needs.
