The main purpose ofthe Resource Specialist is to coordinate and advise in the placement processfor youth who are under the jurisdiction of the Department of JuvenileServices. The Resource Specialist works directly with area staff regarding theneeds of youth by providing expertise in treatment options fiscal resourcesavailability of programs and program development; ensures that the provision ofindividualized services to youth are appropriate and efficient by identifyingand procuring services that meet the needs of the youth in the leastrestrictive environment consistent with public safety and are fiscally responsible;participates in development of contracts RFPs and solicitations program developmentand program monitoring. This is a highly responsible position with multipleroles requiring contacts with all levels of administration within and outsideof the department.
This position will involve recommendingthe appropriate level and type of services for specific youth identifyingsuitable service providers utilizing strategies based on budget and youthservice needs and identifying new programs and/or contracts to meet youth needs.
This position will be a key asset to justice-involvedyouth court-ordered to participate in specific treatment programs and servicesto prevent juvenile recidivism. It will also support DJS Case Managers byproviding guidance and critical insight into various treatment modalitiesdesigned to achieve favorable outcomes and reduce the length of juvenilesformal supervision.
Identifies service optionsand recommendations expenditures for the treatment and care of juveniles whileensuring that those service options adhere to departmental protocols

This position is eligible to work a hybrid teleworkschedule based on department policy and protocols.
Education: A Bachelors degree in the social orbehavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited four year college oruniversity.
Experience:Two years of experience providing case management services to emotionally orsocially maladjusted delinquent victimized or exceptional juveniles in acommunity or residential setting.

may substitute possession of an Associate of Arts degree in thesocial or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college oruniversity and two years of experience providing direct services to children ina community or residential setting for the required education.
may substitute possession of a Masters degree in the social orbehavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college oruniversity for one year of the required experience.
may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as acommissioned officer in Social Services classifications or Social Servicesspecialty codes in the Social Science Psychology and Welfare field of work ona year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
The preferred candidate for this position may possess anyof the following qualifications:
Strong organizationaland time-management skills
Proficiency with relevant software tools or systems(e.g. ASSIST MDEC Excel Microsoft Word
Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
Problem-solving andcritical-thinking aptitude
