Job Summary

About the Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program provides undergraduate and graduate students and beginning professionals with practical experience in a specific area of museum work at The Museum of Modern Art. Interns participate in weekly professional development activities designed to increase understanding of the Museums various collections exhibitions and departments. The Museum hosts approximately 25 interns in various departments across our institution. Participants may arrange for academic credit through their school but it is not a requirement.

MoMA Summer 2026 internships require a commitment of four days per week. The schedule is Monday-Thursday 9:30 a.m.5:30 p.m. One must have a minimum of two years of college completed (or equivalent) by June 2026 in order to apply.

All summer intern applications are due by Sunday March 1st by 11:59 PM EST.

Department Projects & Tasks

The intern will have a hands-on multimedia immersion into the Content & Editorial Team and support various areas of online content - from brainstorming to research to interviews to production to editing. The intern will select one project related to a current temporary exhibition or artwork on view in the Collection Galleries and under the mentorship of our Content producers work to produce this feature from idea to finished article during their time at MoMA.


Additionally the intern will be involved in archival image and document research for stories artist intros and art terms; and assist in several major multimedia content initiatives on our team. The intern will select one project related to a current temporary exhibition or artwork on view in the Collection Galleries and under the mentorship of our Content producers work to produce this feature from idea to finished article during their time at MoMA. They will also be an integral part of our very small team and all of the projects that we do over the those three months including gearing up for the fall exhibitions. Both the temporary exhibition calendar and Collection galleries as well as MoMAs vast archives of content and research materials.

Department Skillset Requirements

Candidates with interest in writing and editing audio online publishing and audience development. A candidate with experience in these areas is ideal. Candidates should have a keen willingness to learn and curiosity to reach and engage with existing and new audiences across the world.
