You are the professional PRN Clerical Psychiatric Technician we are looking for our River Bend Hospital location in West Lafayette Indiana to assist with patient care as well as clerical tasks for the unit.

Unit Secretary Responsibilities:
Checks patient belongings for Unit safety standards; marking patient clothing/belongings; secures patient belongings and contraband appropriately; documents items on patient belonging list.
Screens and checks in patient visitors; ensures they have placed personal items in visitor lockers; assists them onto the unit.
Screens unit phone calls and directs them appropriately; answers phone in polite manner; takes messages as needed (legible includes caller name number and brief message).
Pages codes and staff as needed
Maintains pleasant and helpful interactions with clients visitors and other staff.
Orders clerical medical and patient care supplies as needed.
Checks for labs in morning and afternoon; has MD sign off on labs and scans into appropriate patient chart.
Documents labs drawn in patient charts daily and PRN.
Checks Urine Specimen Fridge contacts lab for specimen pick-ups.
Checks fax machine frequently; distributes items appropriately.
Scans items into patient charts daily
Reconciles C.O.s to ensure accuracy.
Knowledgeable in universal precautions codes fire alarm status board procedures and patient safety needs.
Makes copies of unit forms and packets as needed
Prepares tech packets for admission.
Prepares admission paper chart for patient.
Completes discharge process with patient/tech has patient sign belonging list for receiving back items; completes process with remaining chart contents; scanning into EHR chart; removes patient from bed assignment updates patient status to discharge input or patient discharge date into profile.
Updates unit status board.
Responds to codes appropriately; obtains crash cart and takes to appropriate area according to code called; reports to unit for codes to assist where needed.
Maintains control/restraint competencies and other annual competencies.
Inputs patient information in EHR: pre-admit data updates patient status inputs admission bed assignment upon admission.
Checks Emergency Detention Orders; obtains MD signature faxed to court completes report followings to court.
Maintains profession boundaries.
Communication (verbal and written) and consultation with all staff clients and the general public. Maintaining a professional customer-focused environment.
Answering incoming telephone calls taking messages and/or routing to appropriate extension
Retrieves medical records from outside providers and creates medical record chart for new patients. Maintains a working knowledge of release of information procedures per Meridian policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
