Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking an accomplished Chief Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex mechanical systems within our defence programmes. This is a senior role suited to an engineer with deep technical expertise strong leadership capability and proven experience delivering high-reliability products in regulated environments.
You will lead mechanical design strategy mentor engineering teams and act as the mechanical authority across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and governance for all mechanical engineering activities
- Own mechanical architecture and design decisions for complex defence systems
- Lead and review detailed mechanical designs analyses and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with defence standards quality processes and regulatory requirements
- Mentor and develop mechanical engineering teams
- Drive best practices in design verification and validation
- Interface with systems electrical RF manufacturing and programme teams
- Support customer supplier and stakeholder technical engagements
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years experience in mechanical engineering roles
- Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Defence industry experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience leading mechanical design on complex safety- or mission-critical products
- Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical design principles and materials
- Manufacturing processes and production readiness
- Environmental qualification (vibration thermal shock)
- Experience working within structured engineering lifecycles and configuration control
