Beloit College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach full-time during the 2026-27 academic year with the possibility of a second year appointment in 2027-28. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or A.B.D in botany plant physiology conservation biology ecology environmental biology or related field and will teach two integrated lecture and laboratory courses each semester. The courses will include an introductory botany course and intermediate courses in conservation environmental biology ecology and/or another area of environmental biology. The courses will be inquiry-based have integrated laboratory and field components enroll biology majors and other students and be limited to 24 students. All biology courses at Beloit stress scientific principles and experimental methods and engage students in the design performance analysis and communication of results of research projects.
This position is an excellent opportunity to teach in a department that is nationally known for innovative pedagogy. The visiting faculty member will receive individualized mentoring from members of the biology faculty as well as opportunities to pursue professional development as both a teacher and scholar. Over the last 25 years multiple visiting faculty members in the biology department have secured tenure-track positions at colleges and universities.
