The role: As a member of the Water Department reporting to the Water Manager the Water Co-Op Student performs a wide variety of technical tasks related to water conservation water demand and watershed management including administrative work research report writing data analysis public outreach and development of program communications materials including press releases advertisements videos and social media communication.
The Co-Op Student will work within the Water Department which is located at the Evergreen building providing assistance in operations public education initiatives and data analysis. Primary responsibilities associated with this position include:
- Assisting with the Citys water conservation program (water wise program); including public outreach and education.
- Provide assistance to lab operations and maintenance staff by performing water sampling scheduling data entry lab analysis and cleaning.
- Performing quality review of data.
- Data collection analysis and reporting on water demand.
- Interpreting and presenting data in graphs tables and reports.
- Setting up and updating social media communications required for water conservation and watershed protection.
- Development of communication material and liaison with local media.
- Researching and drafting of reports procedures grant applications and terms of reference.
- Program coordination as required.
- Assist with general department inquiries.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
What we offer: The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $24.97 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits (equivalent to $27.96 per hour). Based on a 40-hour work week eight (8) hours between 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must be currently enrolled in a recognized university or technical college co-op program related to the work (Environment Sciences Geography Energy Management Biology Communications or Integrated Science or other related field)

You must be registered with your educational institutions co-op program. VERIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED.
