JOB SUMMARY:

The Rental Manager manages and oversees the rental department and associated equipment. This position plays a key role in the contribution to business development and revenue goals of company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages / Supervises the equipment rental team at all branch locations.
  • Implements and manages rental processes and sales and oversees entire rental process.
  • Responsible for relationship with Service and Parts department to maximize rental availability and machine uptime.
  • Improve efficiencies and seek new opportunities with rental customers.
  • Coordinate and set rental rates and procedures among Company branch locations.
  • Supervises in-state logistics of rental equipment deliveries.
  • Recommend new equipment for sale and rental fleet to President or General Manager
  • Monitor and prepares bids for equipment rental opportunities.
  • Create and adhere to rental budget and department profitability goals.
  • Create and close sales and rental invoices.
  • Oversee dispatch rental repairs and maintenance of rental equipment fleet.
  • Oversee rental yard activities including equipment sign-out/check in and yard organization.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

This position will supervise the rental department staff.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proven knowledge of heavy equipment industry.
  • Knowledge of business financials budget process and ability to meet rental fiscal goals.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with the ability to apply information to Company products.
  • Demonstrated rental/sales volume producer.
  • Demonstrated strong project management and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written in order to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations. Specifically the ability to communicate with customers and potential customers to ascertain business needs to sell Company product(s).
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Ability to use computer or laptop and knowledge of standard business application (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to learn new applications.
  • Ability to contribute to planning and strategy development for long term company growth.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to actively listen and provide high quality customer service.
  • Ability to do business ethically with customers vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to be detail oriented; superior organizational follow-up and records maintenance skills.
  • Ability to exercise resourcefulness in assisting customers.
  • Ability to learn and understand the Companys Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manager.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; secondary education in business marketing or vocational education in equipment preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years heavy equipment rental and sales and leasing experience required with knowledge of logistics to from and within Alaska.
  • Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Companys Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug driving and background screenings.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud due to the running of heavy equipment. There is often limited exposure to chemical fumes generated by the shop.
