Salary Band: Band 8a (55690 - 62682 per annum)

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week

Are you a proactive operational leader with the ambition to influence change across an entire Trust Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is recruiting a driven Business Manager to support our Trust Leadership Team a vital position focused on delivering outstanding patient care and ensuring our services perform at the highest level.

About the Role

As a TLT Business Manager you will provide proactive visible leadership to ensure the effective operational financial and strategic performance of your speciality area. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Specialty Lead and Modern Matron you will play a central role in delivering highquality innovative and patientcentred services.

You will drive service improvement support the delivery of national and local access targets and help shape the ongoing development of the Trust. This is a role for someone who thrives in a complex environment enjoys working collaboratively with clinical and operational leaders and is committed to continuous improvement.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Providing strong inclusive leadership across operational workforce financial and strategic domains
  • Supporting the speciality in delivering its business plan and meeting key access performance and financial targets
  • Ensuring compliance with governance assurance and risk management frameworks
  • Leading service improvement innovation and quality initiatives to enhance patient experience
  • Overseeing workforce development talent management and effective team performance
  • Managing and forecasting budgets delivering efficiency improvements and supporting longterm financial planning
  • Building productive relationships with clinical teams Trust leaders and external partners
  • Playing an active role in Trustwide corporate responsibilities including 7day service developments and oncall duties

About You

You will be a confident credible leader with:

  • Significant operational management experience ideally in a complex or NHS environment
  • Strong analytical organisational and problemsolving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence senior clinicians and colleagues
  • Proven success in leading teams improving services and delivering against performance and financial metrics
  • A passion for developing people improving patient outcomes and driving forward change

Qualifications :

  • Graduate Level or equivalent academic or Healthcare professional qualification
  • Postgraduate qualification(s) or equivalent applied learning relating to Business Management Finance Accountancy Marketing or People Management
  • Postgraduate (Masters) Qualification
  • Members of a clinical and/or management professional body
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous and Successful operational management experience

Desirable

  • Experience gained at Operational management level within the Health Service sector
  • Proven successful track record in:
  • supporting and sustaining transformational change within a complex organisation; 
  • translating business strategy into operational delivery
  • managing operating budgets and delivering financial surplus;
  • leading and performance-managing teams and individuals.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Highly developed operational leadership skills
  • Ability to quickly establish effective working relationships and develop strong team working.
  • Well developed interpersonal and facilitation skills with ability to gain and maintain credibility with senior clinicians.
  • Highly effective presentation skills and the ability to present well-reasoned and structured argument orally and in writing.
  • Highly developed analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of ICT applications to support efficient work activity including the analysis interpretation and presentation of complex data.
  • Ability to manage priorities in order to meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to hold direct and non direct reports to account.

Desirable

  • Detailed knowledge of Clinical Quality and Safety methodologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of Clinical and Corporate Governance frameworks legislation and best practice.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of clinical and corporate governance and risk management systems and processes.
