Description of Work

Unleash your potential and start your journey toward success! The Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for a skilled Photographer. This position is located in Raleigh NC.

This position performs a variety of standard and specialized photographic and lighting equipment in taking still pictures.

Other responsibilities/duties include but are not limited to the following:
Use a variety of standard and specialized photographic and lighting equipment in taking still pictures and shooting videos.
Makes technical decisions during the shooting (i.e. choice and use of camera settings special lenses and filters exposure and flash).
Utilizes highly technical and specialized photographic and lighting equipment to develop enlarge and print photographs.
Ability to work well in a group dynamic.

The Office of Communications is responsible for the development coordination and implementation of communications strategies and initiatives that advance the departments mission and supports internal and external stakeholders awareness and understanding of the departments policies and functions. Included in these responsibilities are the management of crisis communications data and records requests and state national and international media inquiries. The office manages the perception and branding of DPS responds to public records requests and coordinates external communications to stakeholders partners and the people of North Carolina.

The director and deputy directors regularly consult with the governors office managers subject matter experts legal counsel and other agency leaders when working on projects program development or topics generating public and media addition there is a continuous effort to educate the public and publicize the many services DPS provides and the exceptional work done by our employees.

The role of the Communications Office is to help ensure that there is consistent and accurate messaging and that all divisions/sections involved are communicating and responding appropriately.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $32639.00- $57117.00

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including paid vacation paid sick leave paid holidays retirement and health insurance. To view an example of total compensation please click here NC OSHR: Total Compensation Calculator. The work schedule is Monday -Friday 8am-5pm with occasional travel and overtime as needed. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.

The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences including Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Managers may also choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

Management Preferences
