The Advanced Instructor/Examiner is a contract position to teach Advanced Aquatics Courses for certification and recertification of lifeguards and instructors. This role will administer courses adhering to all certifying bodies and provide reports to the designated lead on course completion. This role will facilitate the required training program and issuing the applicable exams and certificates.
What Youll Do
- Responsible for facilitating training programs for the purposes of certifying and recertifying staff in the areas of Bronze Certification First Aid CPR National Lifeguard and Swim/Lifesaving Instructors.
- Ensure paperwork is submitted to the Aquatics Manager or designate responsible for issuing certificates in a timely manner.
- Requires a strong understanding of the certification and recertification process as outlined by certifying bodies as well as YMCA policies and procedures.
- Work with designated lead to ensure logistics for courses are organized i.e. room bookings pool bookings manual ordering.

- Standard First Aid & CPR C are required for all positions.
- Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check as per the Associations policy
- Successful candidates are required to hold the following Instructor/Trainer and Examiner certifications relevant to the stream of instruction as follows:
- For Bronze level course instruction:
- LSS Lifesaving Instructor
- LSS Emergency First Aid Instructor
- LSS Bronze Examiner
- For National Lifeguard course instruction:
- LSS National Lifeguard Instructor
- LSS NL Examiner
- For Standard First Aid course instruction:
- LSS Standard First Aid Instructor
- LSS Standard First Aid Examiner
- For Swim Instructor course instruction:
- LSS Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Trainer OR
- YMCA Canada Program Trainer Aquatics
