The Risk Analyst 2 (H) independently manages risk analysis projects and collaborates with department leaders and compliance teams. This role is responsible for identifying assessing and mitigating risks and supports the development of risk management programs.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Leads risk assessments and safety audits for multiple units or system-level projects.
  • Analyzes complex incident reports and claims using advanced data analysis tools.
  • Prepares and present reports to leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Develops implements and monitors risk management policies and protocols.
  • Provides training and guidance to staff on department-specific competencies and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts root cause analyses and support corrective action planning.
  • Serves as a resource for quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

  • Independently manages assigned event and incident reports ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Conducts medical record review and analysis for patient safety events across general acute care and select specialty care settings.
  • Participates actively in investigations including interviews documentation review and contribution to root cause and risk analyses.
  • Analyzes and trends event data to identify patterns contributing factors and opportunities for risk prevention and patient protection.
  • Collaborates closely with clinical leadership Quality Patient Safety Patient Experience and operational teams to support corrective action planning.
  • Assists with regulatory readiness activities and supports accreditation and performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of internal education related to patient safety risk prevention and reporting expectations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned in support of departmental operations.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field required
  • Professional certification in healthcare risk management or patient safety (e.g. CPHRM CPPS) encouraged.
  • Minimum 3 year of relevant experience required

Knowledge Skills and Attitudes:

  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures technologies and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software technology and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of incident and event reporting systems including RL6 (RLDatix) with the ability to independently review analyze and trend reported events.
  • Working knowledge of Epic or comparable EHR systems for independent medical record review and analysis.
