Job Summary

We are seeking a nurturing enthusiastic and dedicated Reception Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Romford starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Early Years education and committed to giving children the strongest possible start to their learning journey.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Reception class delivering high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. The school has a strong focus on child-centred practice inclusion and building positive relationships with pupils and families. Staff work collaboratively to create a supportive and stimulating learning environment where children feel safe valued and motivated.

The Role

As a Reception Teacher you will plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that promote development across all areas of the EYFS. You will create a well-organised stimulating classroom and outdoor environment that supports learning through play and exploration. Observation assessment and planning next steps will be central to your role ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

You will work closely with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues to ensure consistency and high-quality provision. Building strong relationships with parents and carers will be a key part of the role supporting childrens development both in school and at home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan deliver and assess high-quality Reception provision in line with the EYFS

  • Create a nurturing inclusive and stimulating learning environment

  • Observe assess and record childrens progress accurately

  • Use assessment to inform planning and next steps

  • Support childrens personal social and emotional development

  • Promote positive behaviour independence and communication skills

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings training and professional development

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching in Reception or Early Years

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Be nurturing patient and enthusiastic

  • Have excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management skills

  • Be reflective adaptable and committed to continuous improvement

  • Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
