Supporting Children at the Very Start of Their Learning Journey
We are seeking a caring proactive and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Slough starting as soon as possible. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support children in the Early Years Foundation Stage helping them develop the confidence curiosity and foundational skills needed for future success in education.
The successful candidate will work closely with EYFS teachers to support children in Nursery and Reception contributing to a nurturing engaging and well-structured learning environment. The school places strong emphasis on play-based learning positive relationships and early development of communication social and emotional skills. Staff are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe supported and valued.
You will be part of a dedicated Early Years team that works collaboratively to deliver high-quality provision. The school values consistency patience and enthusiasm and is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young children during these formative years.
The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant you will support children throughout the school day assisting with learning activities routines and transitions. You will help children access learning through structured play small group work and one-to-one support where required.
You will also play an important role in supporting childrens personal social and emotional development encouraging independence positive behaviour and communication skills. Working closely with the class teacher you will help prepare resources observe childrens progress and contribute to a positive and stimulating classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured activities
Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development
Assist with observations and recording of pupil progress
Help maintain a safe engaging and welcoming learning environment
Support children with routines transitions and personal care where required
Encourage positive behaviour social skills and independence
Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning activities
Work collaboratively with teachers and other Early Years staff
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
Have experience working with young children ideally in an EYFS setting
Be patient nurturing and enthusiastic
Have good communication and teamwork skills
Be reliable organised and proactive
Show a strong understanding of child development
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant EYFS or childcare qualifications are desirable but not essential.
