Job Summary

Make a Difference Supporting Pupils With Additional Needs

We are looking for a compassionate patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Northampton starting as soon as possible. This role offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of special educational needs helping them access learning develop confidence and achieve their full potential in a safe and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support in lessons and small groups. The school values inclusion collaboration and personalised learning seeking someone who is passionate about making a real difference in childrens lives.


Your Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will provide direct support to pupils who require additional help ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities. You will assist with academic tasks behaviour management strategies and social or emotional development interventions adapting your approach to meet individual needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEN

  • Implement strategies outlined in individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and classroom activities

  • Encourage positive behaviour social interaction and independence

  • Observe and record pupil progress providing feedback to teachers

  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times

  • Work collaboratively with teachers SENCO and other support staff

  • Maintain a safe inclusive and supportive learning environment


Who Were Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with SEN or be highly motivated to develop in this area

  • Be patient empathetic and nurturing

  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team

  • Be organised proactive and reliable

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Relevant SEN training is desirable but not essential.
