Job Summary

Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT)

The Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT) is a key member of the plant maintenance team and is responsible for supporting factory operations by maintaining troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive corrective and predictive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems

  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment to minimize downtime

  • Conduct equipment calibrations and machine adjustments to support operational requirements

  • Safely perform all work following established safety practices including LOTO PPE risk assessments and work permits

  • Utilize electrical schematics mechanical drawings manuals and OEM resources to diagnose and resolve equipment issues

  • Properly use tools test instruments and diagnostic equipment

  • Identify source and replace required parts using bills of materials parts lists and technical documentation

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical devices and systems including but not limited to:

    • Switchgear and power distribution systems

    • MCCs safety circuits disconnects fuses and circuit breakers

    • PLC-based automation systems (Allen-Bradley and Siemens)

    • Motors motor starters relays and VFDs

    • Sensors and instrumentation such as photo eyes proximity switches cameras temperature probes level sensors flow meters and control valves

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through participation in the Mahle Operational Excellence system

  • Document maintenance activities repairs and future work requirements using the SAP Plant Maintenance (CMMS) system

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Complete all work in a professional and workmanlike manner

Qualifications & Experience

  • Associates degree technical certificate or equivalent experience in Electrical Maintenance or Industrial Automation

  • Minimum of:

    • 3 years of experience as an Electro-Mechanical Technician OR

    • 2-year technical degree plus 1 year of EMT experience

  • Proven experience troubleshooting repairing replacing components adjusting machinery and modifying equipment to meet operational specifications

  • Experience working in a high-speed manufacturing environment preferred

  • Advanced understanding of industrial electricity including motors and motor controls

  • Advanced knowledge of PLC-based automation systems (Allen-Bradley and Siemens)

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Working knowledge of pipefitting and rigging

  • Familiarity with LOTO and Arc Flash safety regulations

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Effective communication skills

  • Comfortable working with computers for documentation system navigation and information retrieval

  • Ability to use basic math skills for maintenance calibration and repair tasks

  • Ability to work overtime as required

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
