Job Summary

Optotune is a strongly growing and internationally active optics company based in Dietikon Switzerland. We develop manufacture and market the latest generation of adaptive optical elements for industrial- and consumer markets.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our research and development team working on technology development. The content of this internship will be the development of new products with a focus on material questions. The R&D intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers to assist with ongoing research development and testing of new products. This is a full-time internship position for a duration of a minimum 6 months starting as soon as available.

Tasks

Assistance in the development of new products with a focus on material questions
Design of the software required to understand the materials aspects
Conduction of test runs and analysis of experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and tools
Collaboration with team members on the design of the products
Participation in team meetings and contribution to team discussions and problem-solving
Maintenance of accurate and organized records of experimental data and results
Development of small hardware components (electronics firmware) is possible

Requirements

Finished or currently enrolled in an MSc degree in material science physics mechanical electrical or optical engineering or a related field
Experience in an optical chemical or similar laboratory
Understanding basic optics and physics principles
Some experience in programming and data analysis
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience in electronics is a plus
