Backend Engineer (nodeJS Typescript)

We are Tribe and we are partnering with a leading European PropTech powerhouse to expand their engineering hub in Belgrade.

Our client is a major player in the digital real estate space operating some of the continents most visited marketplaces and digital platforms. They are currently looking for experienced Backend Engineers to help build and scale the services that power high-traffic consumer products used by millions of people every month.

This is a unique opportunity to work on complex large-scale systems in a stealth mode capacity contributing to a product suite that is redefining how people buy sell and rent homes. You will be joining a collaborative team in Belgrade with a strong engineering culture and a focus on software craftsmanship.

Tasks

As a Backend Engineer you will play a central role in designing building and operating the services that drive our clients platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Building Scalable Services: Design develop and maintain high-performance backend services and microservices that power real estate portals and internal tools.
• API Design: Create secure robust and scalable RESTful APIs to support web and mobile frontends.
• Infrastructure & Operations: Work closely with cloud technologies (AWS) and container orchestration (Docker Kubernetes) to ensure smooth deployment and operation of your services.
• Data Management: Architect and manage data storage solutions using relational databases (PostgreSQL MySQL) and streaming platforms (Kafka).
• Quality & Observability: Champion good software engineering practices by writing testable code implementing monitoring solutions and ensuring high system observability.
• Collaboration: Work in a cross-functional agile team contributing to architectural decisions and code reviews.

Requirements

We are looking for engineers with a product-oriented mindset who thrive in high-traffic environments.

• Server-Side Expertise: Strong proficiency in at least one modern server-side language. We are open to backgrounds in TypeScript/ Java Scala Python or PHP.
• Microservices Experience: Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices in a production environment.
• Cloud Native: Hands-on experience with AWS Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. CircleCI) is a plus.
• Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of datastores particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL. Experience with Kafka or other event streaming technologies is highly desirable.
• Scale: Previous experience working on high-traffic B2C consumer-facing products serving millions of users is essential.
• Engineering Best Practices: A strong commitment to software craftsmanship including testing code quality and performance optimization.
• Location: You must be based in (or willing to relocate to) Belgrade Serbia and comfortable working from the office 4 days a week.
