Job Title: SSO Security Police Officer 18325
What Youll Do
Responsible for providing physical security at the Y-12 National Security Complex; respond to alarms and provide protection for Y-12 and/or Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) from theft fire sabotage or unauthorized detonation; responsible for planning and executing his/her work in a safe manner in accordance with the applicable safety rules and regulations.

Minimum Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent and at least six months work experience in law enforcement (post certified) armed nuclear security or military.
- Must be a United States Citizen and must be at least 21 years old Tennessee Code Annotated Chapter 17 Part 13.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.
- Must meet standards of the Gun Control Act.
- Must meet DOE 10 CFR 1046 Advance Readiness Standards (ARS) fitness requirements which include a 1 mile run in 8 minutes 30 seconds or less and a 40-yard dash from the prone in 8 seconds or less. ARS fitness requirements continued annually thereafter based on SPO level.
- Specific Knowledge Skills and Abilities required are:
- ability to follow the company-union contract safety rules and Y12 policies;
- ability to successfully complete drug screening requirements;
- ability to maintain conduct becoming an officer as stated in Code of Federal Regulations CITE: 10 CFR 710.6;
- ability to maintain integrity and trustworthiness which is mandatory in the security environment;
- ability to obtain and maintain a valid Drivers License;
- ability to possess a firearm and ammunition (record clear of any Domestic Violence convictions according to Public Law (104-208);
- ability to follow safety compliance requirements;
- ability and willingness to understand and use deadly force in accordance with DOE/Y-12 orders and directives;
- ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of applicable federal laws/regulations and restrictions relative to operation and DOE/Y-12 orders and directives;
- acquire and maintain knowledge of assigned weapons and equipment for an ARS Security Police Officer; and
- meet the training requirements as defined in the DOE Policy 470.4-3A for an ARS Security Police Officer.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Associates degree or higher is desired.
- Three years or more in armed nuclear security law enforcement (post certified) military or the combination of all.
